TSAS Ethics GCSE
Revision Plan

  1. Use BBC Bitesize to research a topic - use the interactive exercises to test your knowledge, highlighting areas to focus on. Alternatively, think about either your Mock Exam, or your work in class, and identify topics and units that you need to work on.

  2. Read the relevant section in your Revision Guide. Underline key points and make notes in the margins. Spend around 15-20 minutes on a topic.

  3. Use either the Past Paper (see the OCR link on the right), the sample questions in your Revision Book, or Yacapaca to answer a question from the unit you have just revised.

  4. Look at the sample answers at the back of your Revision Book. How does your answer compare? Get your Ethics Teacher to take a look at it, and tell you what standard you have reached.

Remember that a full question (parts a, b and c) should take you around 30 minutes to complete. Most students write around 2 - 3 sides of A4 in that time.

Exam Hints

  1. Part a) asks you to describe something about Christian beliefs and ideas. You will need to find four or five points to make about this. Remember to describe in detail, not just in outline. Look at the "What Some Christians Think or Do" section in the Revision Book to find what to include in an answer for this part.

  2. Part b) asks you to explain something about the way that Christians deal with ethical issues. Remember to show why Christians do what they do - don't just describe it. Think about Bible sayings or what Famour Christians have done. Look in the Revision Book at the "Why Some Christians Think and Do This" section. Again, four or five points, in detail, should do it!

  3. Part c) asks you to explain your own opinion, and to give an opposing point of view. Don't forget to mention a Christian point of view too! A good way to do this is to write "Some people agree.. they think... because... Other people disagree because.... Christians think....

  4. Remember - it takes around 2 -3 sides of A4 to answer one of these questions properly. Take around 30 minutes, and write as much as you can. You can bullet point your answers if it helps, but don't forget to use full sentences or you will miss out on the Written Communication mark!
